Obituary

John Fred Cheesman, 100 of New Haven died peacefully at his home on Thursday, May 30, 2019 with his loving family by his side. He was the beloved husband of seventy one years to Anne Elizabeth Stadolnik Cheesman. John was born in New Jersey on December 20, 1918, a beloved son of John Julius and Cora Louise Clark Cheesman, and was a lifelong New Haven resident. He was a wire weaver for the former McClusky Wire Co. of New Haven for many years. John was a proud WWII Army Veteran and fought in the Pacific Theatre. He was a member of the American Legion in Wallingford, and a member of the Sages at Gateway Community College in New Haven. Back in the 1990's John and Anne were awarded a Grandparents of the Year honor. In addition to his wife, John is survived by two daughters, Joan Harvey Carter of Willington and Nancy Beth Cheesman of New Haven, a son-in-law, Walter Nagorski of Shrewsbury, MA, one brother, Francis Eugene Cheesman of North Haven, six grandchildren, John Fred Cheesman, Anthony John Cheesman, Jason Harvey, Adam Harvey, Cathy Nagorski and Alex Nagorski, and two great grandchildren, Brenda Harvey and Jeffrey Nevers. He was predeceased by his daughter Linda Ann Nagorski, and two sisters, Katherine Fiorello and Lillian Matilda Cheesman. A graveside service with military honors will take place on Thursday, June 6th at 2:00 p.m. at All Saints Cemetery, 700 Middletown Ave., North Haven.
