James Byrne Jackson, 88 of North Haven died peacefully on Thursday, December 13, 2018 at Yale-New Haven Hospital. He was the beloved husband of sixty three years to Georgia Kathryn Brown Jackson. James was born in Romney, West Virginia on March 3, 1930, a son of the late Paul Wilson Jackson and the late Mary Leona Allen Jackson Croston. He grew up in Romney, and had resided in North Haven since 1968. He was an electronics technician for the former Allegheny Instrument Co. of Cumberland, MD and MB Electronics of New Haven, and later worked for Firelight and Honeywell Industries of Northford retiring in 1995. James was proud to have been on a team that created a component that was used in the NASA Apollo space missions, and he was equally as proud to have tested a fire alarm system that was installed in his granddaughter's elementary school in Tennessee. He proudly served his nation with the US Navy during the Korean War. James is also survived by three daughters, Kathy Lynne Graham of Scottsdale, AZ, Patricia Ann Jackson-Marshall and her husband James Marshall of North Haven and Amy Jo Styles of Framingham, MA, one sister in law, Anna Lou Jackson of Newark, DE, and seven grandchildren, Michael, Karin and Melissa Graham, Samuel and Emma Marshall, and Anna and James Styles. He was predeceased by his step-father, Delvin Croston, and his brother, Richard Jackson. James' family will receive relatives and friends on Monday, December 17th from 5:00 to 6:00 p.m. at the Washington Memorial Funeral Home, 4 Washington Ave., North Haven. A memorial service will take place at the funeral home at 6:00 p.m., the Rev. Scott Morrow officiating. Burial with military honors will take place at a later date in Romney, WV. Memorial contributions in James' name may be made to the North Haven Food Pantry, 28 Church St., North Haven, CT 06473.
