Obituary

Gladys Celia Bonilla, 81 of New Haven died peacefully on Saturday, March 2, 2019 at the Milford Health and Rehabilitation Center with her loving family by her side. She was the beloved wife of sixty five years to Francisco Bonilla. Gladys was born in Santa Isabel, Puerto Rico on July 13, 1937, a daughter of the late Angel M. Pérez and the late Isabel Caratinni, and had resided in New Haven the past fifty years. She was a long-time member of Star of Jacob Christian Church of New Haven, and was a current member of Iglesia Cristiana La Senda Milagrosa of Hamden. Gladys is also survived by three daughters, Celia (Samuel) Cordero and Marilyn (Luís) Torres of Hamden and Norma Fernandez of New Haven, four sons, Francisco (Myrta) Bonilla of North Branford, John (Anita) Bonilla of Cheshire, Josue "Josh" Bonilla of New Haven and Samuel (Zaida) Bonilla of West Haven, one sister, Hilda Morales of Tampa, FL, two brothers, Angel Luís (Awilda) Pérez of Santa Isabel, PR and Miguel (Judith) Santiago of Lake Worth, FL, seventeen grandchildren, and sixteen great grandchildren. She was predeceased by her son, Elias Bonilla. Gladys' family will receive relatives and friends on Wednesday, March 6th from 5:00 to 9:00 p.m. at Star of Jacob Christian Church, 506 Howard Ave., New Haven. A funeral service will take place at the church on Thursday, March 7th at 10:00 a.m. Burial will follow in the CT State Veterans' Cemetery, 317 Bow Lane, Middletown.
