Edwin Reyes Bonilla, 54 of New Haven died suddenly at his home on Thursday, March 16, 2017. Edwin was born in New Haven on February 13, 1963, a son of Felix and Elizabeth Bonilla Reyes, Sr. of New Haven, and was a lifelong New Haven resident. He most recently was employed by the City of New Haven, Dept. of Public Works for five years until 2008. He had previously worked as a groundskeeper at All Saints Cemetery, North Haven for more than one year, and before that as a custodian at Yale University for several years. In addition to his parents, Edwin is survived by four sisters, Margarita Roig and her husband Anibal Ramirez of Santa Isabel, Puerto Rico, Rev. Zoraida Velazquez and her husband Juan Velazquez of West Haven, Luz Rivera and her husband Inocencio Rivera, and Epifania Martinez and her husband Sergio Fierro of New Haven, three brothers, Felix Reyes, Jr. and his wife Jacqueline Reyes of New London, Louis Reyes and his wife Mary Reyes of Meriden, and Sammy Reyes of New Haven, and many loving aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by one sister, Olga Galarza, and one brother, Rev. David Reyes.

Edwin's family will receive relatives and friends on Sunday from 5:00 to 9;00 p.m. at Iglesia Cristiana Estrella Resplandeciente de Jacob (formerly Second Star of Jacob Christian Church), 201 Chapel St. New Haven. A funeral service will take place at the church on Monday at 10:00 a.m. Burial will follow in All Saints Cemetery, North Haven. The Washington Memorial Funeral Home, 4 Washington Ave., North Haven has been entrusted with arrangements.
