Obituary

Edward Joseph Cox, Sr., 56 of Bradenton, FL, formerly of Fair Haven and Hamden died suddenly at his home on Tuesday, December 13, 2016. Ed was born in New Haven on March 3, 1960, a son of Clara Nuzzolillo Cox of Hamden and the late James R. Cox. He lived in the Fair Haven section of New Haven, and later Hamden for most of his life, and had lived in Florida for a total of ten years, including for the past year and one half in Bradenton. He was a salesman and driver for the casket industry for more than twenty five years, having worked for the former Boston Burial Casket Co, and the former York Casket Co. before going to work for the former J. Cox and Son Casket Co. of Westfield, MA for several years. He also worked in the casket industry in Florida. Ed is also survived by two sons, Officer James E. Cox, M.P.D. and his wife Sarah, and Edward J. Cox, Jr. of Hamden, and two brothers, Terrence Cox and his wife Yvonne of Tampa, FL, and Robert Cox and his wife Jennifer of West Haven. He was predeceased by his brother James R. Cox.

Ed's family will receive relatives and friends on Tuesday from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Washington Memorial Funeral Home, 4 Washington Ave., North Haven. His funeral procession will leave from the funeral home on Wednesday at 9:45 a.m. for a Mass of Christian Burial which will be celebrated in St. Bernadette Church, 385 Townsend Ave., New Haven at 10:30 a.m. Burial will be private. www.washingtonmemorialfh.com
