Obituary

Dean John Raffile, Sr., 70 of Northford died peacefully on Monday, December 18, 2017 at Middlesex Hospital, Middletown. He was the beloved husband of forty nine years to Lucy Andreoni Raffile. Dean was born in New Haven on January 16, 1947, a son of the late Arthur and Theresa Lyserburg Raffile, and had resided in Northford since 1972. He was a locomotive engineer for Amtrak for twenty five years, retiring in 1991. He was the former Local Chairman of the Brotherhood of Locomotive Engineers (BLE)-Amtrak and went before Congress to defend the BLE as a specialized trade. Dean also proudly served his nation with the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam Era. He is also survived by one daughter, Rachel Walker and her husband Kristoffer of Kingwood, TX, two sons, Dean John Raffile, Jr. and his wife Sarah of Long Island, NY and Christopher James Raffile of Northford and Lindsey Jones, one sister, Bonnie Ascenzia of Florida, two brothers, Arthur "Skipper" Raffile and his wife Nancy of North Haven and Timothy Raffile and his wife Brenda of Wallingford, and six grandchildren, Austin Speir Raffile, Katelyn and Ryan Walker, Dean Thomas Raffile, and Deanna and Dylan Stroud. Funeral services for Dean are private, and have been entrusted to the Washington Memorial Funeral Home, 4 Washington Ave., North Haven.
