Obituary

Charles John Peschel, 65 of Cheshire died peacefully on Sunday, September 17, 2017 at the Smilow Cancer Hospital of Yale-New Haven Hospital after a corageous battle with AML, and with his loving family by his side. He was the beloved husband of twenty nine years to Nan Stockmal Peschel. Charles was born in New Haven on August 21, 1952, a son of Charles L. Peschel of Milford and the late Elizabeth Donarum Peschel, and resided in Milford for most of his life before moving to Cheshire twenty eight years ago. Charles was a Manufacturing Engineer and NC Programmer for Allied Signal of Stratford for many years and more recently a Supervisor at Colt Firearms Manufacturing Department of West Hartford retiring in 2014. He was a 1971 graduate of Eli Whitney Technical High School of Hamden, earned his Bachelor's Degree in Manufacturing Engineering from Central Connecticut State University, and his Master's in Labor Realtions from the University of New Haven. Charles also served in the US Army during the Vietnam era. His greatest passion was cars, especially restoring classic and antique cars. In addition he was a talented stone mason, fan of classical music, and he served as a popular resource for neighbors needing help with plumbing, car maintenance, landscaping, ect. In addition to his father and wife, Charles is survived by one sister, Eileen (Thomas) Smith of Montomery Village, MD, two brothers, Kevin (Grace) Peschel of Northford and Brian (Maryann) Pescel of Watertown, his sister-in-law, Jill (Dale) Bennett of Haddam, and several loving nieces and nephews.

Charles' family will receive relatives and friends on Thursday from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. at the Washington Memorial Funeral Home, 4 Washington Ave., North Haven. A funeral service will take place at the funeral home at 11:30 a.m. Burial will be private.
