Catherine Acampora Verab, 86 of North Haven died peacefully on Tuesday, December 6, 2016 at Yale-New Haven Hospital, St. Raphael Campus after a short illness. She was the beloved wife of the late John Verab, Sr. Catherine was born in New Haven on December 3, 1930, a daughter of the late Salvatore and Rose Carbone Acampora and had resided in New Haven for most of her life before moving to North Haven twenty four years ago. She owned and operated the former Verab's Bakery of New Haven for more than forty years. Catherine is survived by two daughters, Marylou (John) Sullivan of North Haven and Debbie Verab of New Haven, a son-in-law, Louis Richardson of North Haven, two sisters, Rosemarie (John) Wojciechowski and Elaine Rubino of New Haven, one brother, Jack Acampora of North Haven, sixteen grandchildren, twenty five great grandchildren, and five great-great grandchildren. She was predeceased by one daughter, Margaret Richardson, one son, John Verab, Jr., and one sister, Joanne Taneszio.

Catherine's family will receive relatives and friends on Saturday from 8:15 to 10:15 a.m. at the Washington Memorial Funeral Home, 4 Washington Ave., North Haven. Her funeral procession will leave form the funeral home at 10:15 a.m. for a Mass of Christian Burial which will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. in St. Francis Church, 397 Ferry St., New Haven. Entombment will follow at the mausoleum at All Saints Cemetery, North Haven.
