Obituary

Alia Lotfy Jacob, 59 of East Hampton, CT died peacefully on Saturday, October 14, 2017 at Yale-New Haven Hospital with her loving family by her side. She was the beloved wife of Sameh Fam. Alia was born in Fayoum, Egypt on October 31, 1957, a daughter of the late Lotfy Jacob and the late Afifa Wasely. She had resided in Hamden for ten years before moving to East Hampton five years ago. Before immigrating to the U.S., Alia was a Civil Engineer for seventeen years in Tenth of Ramadan City, Egypt. She was a member of Virgin Mary and Archangel Michael Coptic Orthodox Church of Hamden. Alia is also survived by one daughter, Nayer Fam, and one son, Pierre Fam of East Hampton, two brothers, Osama Jacob of North Arlington, NJ and Essam (Alison) Jacob of Wapinger Falls, NY, two nieces, Christine Jacob of Yonkers, NY and Samantha Jacob of Hawaii, and one nephew, Joseph Jacob of Port Chester, NY. She was predeceased by one sister, Mona Jacob.

Alia's family will receive relatives and friends on Sunday from 2:30 to 4:00 p.m. and Monday from 6:30 to 8:00 p.m. at the Washington Memorial Funeral Home, 4 Washington Ave., North Haven. Everyone is invited to go directly to Virgin Mary and Archangel Michael Coptic Orthodox Church, 87 Benham St., Hamden on Tuesday for a funeral service at 10:00 a.m. Burial will follow in Airmont Lutheran Cemetery, Suffern, NY. www.washingtonmemorialfh.com
