Obituary

Alexander "Alex" P. Landisio, Sr., 88 of Hamden died peacefully on Friday, November 23, 2018 at Yale-New Haven Hospital with his loving family by his side. He was the beloved husband of sixty seven years to Vera Mary Dilello Landisio. Alex was born in New Haven on April 28, 1930 a son of the late Carmine and Julia Caprio Landisio and had resided in Hamden since 1960. He owned and operated two Alex's Esso Gas Stations in New Haven, and was an auto mechanics teacher at Eli Whitney Technical High School of Hamden. He was a regional service manager for Ford, and a service manager at several Ford dealerships, and also worked for Bob Marino Specialty Sales in Wallingford before his retirement. Alex was a proud Korean War Marine Corp Veteran having attained the rank of sergeant. He was a past President and past Grand Knight of the Knights of Columbus Council #3605 of Hamden, and was a Eucharistic Minister at the Church of the Ascension. In addition to his loving wife Vera, Alex is survived by his children Cynthia Ruiz and her husband Andrew of Cheshire, Diane Addario-DePalma and her husband David of Hamden, Alexander P. Landisio, Jr. and his wife Laura of Guilford and Debra Cumpstone and her husband Richard of Sebastian, FL, one brother, Carmine "Dick" Landisio and his wife Marion of Cheshire, one sister, Carol Anastasio and her husband Michael of North Haven, sisters-in-law Carmel Landisio of Orange and Marie Landisio of New Haven, nine grandchildren, Christopher Ruiz and his loving companion Kelly and Michelle Ruiz and her loving companion Michael, David Addario, Paul Addario and his wife Melissa, Stephen Addario and his wife Christina, Lauren Iannini and her husband Nick, Joseph Landisio and his wife Jess, Kristen Wolak and her husband Brian and Patrick Cumpstone and his wife Mallory, nine great grandchildren, Adelyn, Emerson, Hannah, Caleb, Alijah, Ava, Alexander, Nathan and Layla, and one great great grandson Ryan. He was predeceased by two brothers, Anthony and Vincent Landisio, a brother in law, Alphonse Dilello, and two nephews, Michael and David Dilello. Alex's family will receive relatives and friends on Tuesday, November 27th from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Washington Memorial Funeral Home, 4 Washington Ave., North Haven. His funeral procession will leave from the funeral home on Wednesday, November 28th at 10:15 a.m. for a Mass of Christian Burial which will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. in the Christ the Bread of Life Parish, Church of the Ascension, 1050 Dunbar Hill Rd., Hamden. Burial with military honors will follow in Beaverdale Memorial Park, Hamden.
