Alejandrina Santiago Ocasio, 90 of New Haven died peacefully at her home on Wednesday, February 6, 2019 with her loving family by her side. She was the beloved wife of the late Leocadio Rivera. Alejandrina was born in Cayey, Puerto Rico on September 2, 1928, a daughter of the late Antonio Santiago and the late Juana Ocasio. She had resided in Cayey for most of her life before moving to New Haven in 2017. Alejandrina is survived by four daughters, Maria Mercedes Colón and Maria (Calixto Carrera) of Yonkers, NY, Marta Martinez of Kissimmee, FL and Carmen Figueroa of New Haven, five sons, José Colón and Rafael Martinez of Yonkers, Jesus Martinez and Oscar (Ana Torres) of Bridgeport and José Martinez of Cayey, two sisters, Dolores Santiago Ocasio and Ramona Mendoza of Cidra, PR, two brothers, Angel Mendoza of Providence, RI and José Rodriguez of Cayey, more than fifty grandchildren, more than twenty five great grandchildren, and many great great grandchildren. She was predeceased by four sisters, Isabel, Filomena, Angela and Marcela Santiago Ocasio, and seven brothers, Rafael, Andres, Pablito, and Julito Colón, Miguel and Manuel Martinez, and Cristobal Santiago Ocasio. Funeral services for Alejandrina were held in Cayey, Puerto Rico. The Washington Memorial Funeral Home, 4 Washington Ave., North Haven was in charge of local arrangements.
