Rev. Luis Antonio Rojas Sr., 76, of Meriden, loving husband of Rosa Lydia (Soto) Rojas, died peacefully, Tuesday, January 22, 2019 at MidState Medical Center in Meriden.

Luis was born in Ceiba, Puerto Rico, May 20, 1942, a son of the late Salvador Rojas and Elisa Delgado Rojas. Rev. Luis Rojas received his Bachelor's Degree in Theology along with completing three years of Bible Institute. Over the past 45 years, he served as Senior Pastor to the following churches: Principe De Paz in Far Rockaway, NY, Mar De Galilea in Manhattan, NY, Ebenezer in Bayshore, NY, Salvacion Y Vida Eterna in New Haven, CT, El Faro in Springfield, MO, and currently Iglesia 6ta Alfa Y Omega in Meriden, CT. Rev. Luis also served as Chaplain to Yale New Haven Hospital for many years.

In addition to his wife Rosa Lydia, he is survived by his three children Luis Rojas Jr. and his wife Elisa Morgan, Nivia Torres and her husband Jose Torres and Moses Rojas and his wife Courtenay Dunn; his grandchildren Timothy, Makenzie and Hailey Torres, Miles Rojas, and his step grandson Peter Morgan; his brothers and sisters Juanita Garcia, Alicia Malespin, Carmen Melendez, Salvador Rojas Jr., Jose A. Rojas, Lucy N. Diaz and Irene Antonecchia.

Rev. Luis' family will receive relatives and friends at Iglesia Cristiana Estrella Resplandeciente De Jacob, 185 Chapel Street, New Haven, CT (Formerly Second Star of Jacob), Monday, January 28, 2019 at 7 p.m. Relatives and friends may gather at the church on Tuesday, at 10 a.m. and follow the funeral procession to Sacred Heart Cemetery in Meriden, where committal services will be held. www.washingtonmemorialfh.com

My deepest condolences to Hna. Rosa Rojas and family. Pastor Luis Rojas was my first Pastor and I cherish wonderful memories of my Christian life because He was so understanding a great teacher a wonderful friend and a mentor like no other. I will definitely miss him.
