Thank you for your support during this difficult time.
Please enhance this tribute to {Anna} by adding your memories and photos.
Anna "Nonni" Berretto Longobardi, 90 of North Haven, formerly of New Haven died peacefully on Friday, October 19, 2018 with her loving family by her side. She was the beloved wife of the late Joseph N. Longobardi. Anna was born in New Haven on March 1, 1928, a daughter of the late Dominick and Constance Teodosio Berretto, and had resided in New Haven for most of her life. Along with her husband, Anna co-owned and operated Longobardi Fuel Oil of New Haven until 2007. In 2005, Anna moved in with her daughter Maria and her family in North Haven. From then, she traveled and enjoyed her life. She loved being with her grandchildren, and even started camping at the age of 87. Wherever her grandchildren went, she was eager to join in going to Lake Compounce, Santa's Village, Jersey Shore, and Hammonasset, to name a few. She loved visiting her adopted daughter Kozi and her family in New Hampshire. Her most memorable visits were those spent in the Caribbean; St. Vincent and the Grenadines for three weeks on the beach and sailing. We can't forget her trip to Canada, visiting her beloved Sisters of the Sacred Heart of Jesus. Anna was devoted to her faith, and was extremely generous. She supported and participated in many of the Boy Scout, Troop 811 and Pack 810 events, including the Memorial Day Parade. She had a full life filled with love and admiration for all she encountered. Anna is survived by six children, Maria Longobardi-O'Connor and her husband Thomas, and Joseph Longobardi, Jr. of North Haven, Frank Longobardi and his wife Linda of Durham, Nancy Longobardi of North Haven, Domenic Longobardi of Orange, and Pasqual Longobardi of New Haven, nine grandchildren, Domenic, Holly and Joseph Longobardi, Thomas, Joseph and Robert O'Connor, Bryan and Jacqueline Bottone, and Jamie Longobardi, her beloved puppies Toby, Lucy and Tish, and two sisters Theresa Penna of West Haven, and Lucille Sacco of New Haven. She was predeceased by five sisters, Josephine Gargano, Nancy Berretto, Rubina Proto, Louise Sulpasso, and Antionette Marisco. Anna's family will receive relatives and friends on Saturday, October 27th from 9:00 to 11:00 a.m. at the Washington Memorial Funeral Home, 4 Washington Ave., North Haven. Her funeral procession will leave from the funeral home at 11:15 a.m. for a Mass of Christian Burial which will be celebrated at 11:30 a.m. at St. Elizabeth of the Trinity Parish, in St. Frances Cabrini Church, Pond Hill Rd., North Haven. Marie, your mama was an amazing lady, (so, that's where you got it!) and lived a remarkable life. I feel privileged to have finally met her recently and I know you will miss her deeply. Marie, just know that the loving care you so generously bestowed upon your mother is a tribute to us all as an example of giving unconditional Love to a loved one. I'll be keeping you and your family in my thoughts and prayers. Love, Maureen
